“We don’t have to do all of it alone. We were never meant to.” -Brene Brown

Compassionate, Trauma-Informed Mental Health Care

I am a licensed professional counselor in Hendersonville, TN specializing in perinatal mental health and the treatment of trauma and toxic stress. I have been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy since 2013, and completed my additional training for certification in 2018. EMDR is a therapy that can help someone's brain heal from the impact of trauma or toxic stressors and is an evidence based therapy for PTSD, anxiety, depression and general life stressors- amongst a myriad of other things.

In 2020 I became certified in perinatal mental health, after experiencing how marginalized people can be when experiencing pregancy loss, perinatal mood disorders, infertility and birth trauma.

You deserve to be seen. You deserve to have the space that you need to heal. It would be my honor to nurture that for you.

What is my approach to counseling?

I believe that you are the best expert on yourself, and my role is to meet you where you are- not where I think that you should be. Your experience is the experience that matters, and I want anyone who comes to see me to feel safe to be their most authentic self. I try to create that safety by taking a trauma-informed approach ("What happened to lead to this?" and never "What is wrong with you?"). I believe that finding healing is possible for anyone in the right therapeutic environment.

I support Counseling Unconditionally for clients seeking counseling in Tennessee.

What do my clients look like?

Many of my clients come to me with developmental trauma; painful things that started in childhood and are still impacting them today. Other times, there has been an acutely toxic or traumatic event within the recent past that remains unhealed, negatively impacting day to day functioning. Sometimes these chronic traumas may be related to working in high-stress fields, such as first responders, medical professionals or educators.

Very often, my clients are parents, or hopeful parents who have experienced the deep pain associated with pregnancy loss, infertility, birth realted trauma or perinatal mood disorders, such as post-partum anxiety.
